The Music Section supports music through organizing concerts, presenting educational lectures, and raising funds for the WCCC Music Scholarship Fund.
The Music Section's live performances and lecture programs cover a variety of music topics or genres.
The Music Section also presents free Friday Morning Music Club concerts on select Fridays throughout the year. The Friday Morning Music Club concerts are open to the public as a community service. A reception follows the Friday Morning Music Club concerts.
An end-of-year luncheon at Columbia Country Club rounds out the year.
Details and Other Information
Several meetings per year are devoted to programs of musical entertainment and/or education. For the Friday Morning Music Club, members of the Music Section help to provide refreshments for the receptions that follow the concerts.
Music Section members conduct a fundraiser of some sort during the year, as well as solicit donations, for the WCCC Music Scholarship Fund at Montgomery College.
The section and its meetings are open to all members with no fees. The end-of-year luncheon is charged at its cost.
Schedule
The Music Section meets on the fourth Tuesday of most months.
The Friday Morning Music Club meets on select Fridays, usually at noon, throughout the year. Other Music Section meetings have been on a space-available basis, with some also available via Zoom.
